Sigacik | Place to Visit İn Seferihisar
It grows 45 km from Izmir, Sigacik of Seferihisar district was founded in BC. It is a port city on the coast since the 7th century. Sigacik environs contain many ancient cities. Sigacik Castle
The castle, which was built by Suleiman the Magnificent during the Ottoman period, was built to be unusable in Rhodes campaigns. Sigacik Castle, consisting of an inner and an outer castle, was built with marble blocks and stones collected from the region. It is assumed that the marble blocks used in the city walls were brought from the ancient city of Teos.
Settlements can be seen in the area where Sigacik Castle is bordered. These buildings were built recently as two storeys and reinforced concrete structures. On the outer walls of some houses, there are spolia marbles used between the stonework.
There are small courtyards on the sides of the houses in the castle. These courtyards are usually surrounded by a wall height of 1-1.5 meters.
Sigacik Mosque
The mosque was built in Kaleiçi and there are pieces of spolia marble on its walls. The mosque, which has a single domed plan in Anatolia, was built during the Seljuks and Principalities period. The construction date is unknown. However, in terms of its architecture, it is said that it may have been built in the 16th century.
